The British Journal of Photography notes that Zeiss is stepping into secure the Contax brand:
Carl Zeiss is in discussions to save the Contax brand name after Kyocera's shock decision to pull out of the manufacture of Contax-branded 35mm film and digital cameras, as exclusively revealed by BJP.Zeiss, which owns the Contax brand, is currently in discussions with Kyocera but is also looking at partnerships with another manufacturer should Kyocera go ahead with its plans to discontinue both its own brand as well as Contax-branded cameras (BJP, 02 March).
I think this bodes well for the future production of a digital Zeiss Contax camera with Leica M lens mount.
who bets for cosina-voigtländer?
C-V will likely remain the OEM manufacturer for Zeiss. Zeiss has no camera manufacturing equipment of its own. I don't think it even owns its own lens manufacturing factories anymore. It's turned into a design studion.
Hi Karen -
Great site! I am trying to find a way to contact you. I would like to request your permission to either link to your Yashica information or however you prefer it to sell a Yashica Electro 35 GS model with the color Yashinon DX 1:1.7 lens. Your information on this camera is quite extensive.
Thanks! Feel free to link to my page all you want. I only get peeved when people steal text/images to put up on their own site (or even worse, ebay auctions).
I unfortunately don't have any Yashicas to sell. All of them are in storage in St. Paul and I don't plan on returning until June.
