News: Onishi Mitsugu exhibit in Tokyo/Osaka

From John Sypal on the Japan Photography list:

Last night I went to Onishi Mitsugu's slide talk at the Nikon salon in Shinjuku (Shinjuku L Tower, 28F) [Tokyo].

Onishi sensei is having an exhibition of his recent work there through this week, and I highly, Highly going there to see it. He works in the shitamachi districts of Tokyo with a D70, and the work is amazing...

"Street Photography" is what it might be conisdered, but last night the term "snapshot" was used instead. The prints are all about 11x14 with the exception of one wall that has 5 or so huge prints.

Onishi is one of my most favorite photographers- you can see some of his work here: http://www8.plala.or.jp/newcoast/

The Shinjuku exhibition is from April 12th to April 25th. After Tokyo, the show will be shown at the Osaka Nikon Salon, May 12-24th, with his slide talk at 6pm on May 14th. He joked to the audience that he might have a tough sell to an Osaka crowd about the beauty of shita-machi tokyo.. hehehe

Speaking of exhibitions, I can't wait to see the History of Photography show at the Photo Museum in Ebisu.....
