ArsTechnica has a fantastic overview of the current crop of high-end pigment-based inkjet photo printers: http://feeds.arstechnica.com/~r/arstechnica/BAaf/~3/109372463/inkjets.ars
My Epson 1280 is still soldiering on, but when I end up replacing it, I think I'll get a Canon. I'm sick of Epson's policy of suing every single third-party ink manufacturer and Canon's ink tanks are larger and more efficient.
I am not a print person , I wasn't good in the darkroom .
For the most part this carried over into the digital side as well ..
Whacked print driver software comparability issues soured me on the whole process ....
After doing the Epson thing with the 2200 & finally getting decent prints via Lightroom & then dealing with driver related transport feed issues ... I had had enough again ....
I was un familiar with Canon printers & had known of the lag time between OS upgrades & driver support from Canon
For a specific job I picked up a Canon iP4300
The Canon drivers seem to match up exceptionally well with the print module in Lightroom so far so good .. My only complaint is the cryptic paper select lingo in the dialogue
I will be curious to hear you experiences with the canon printer when the time comes....
