Collecting and Using Classic Cameras

Scroll down this page to see my classic camera collection with detailed information on each model. The listing is divided into three sections: inexpensive and fun play cameras, great user cameras for advanced amateurs, and professional level cameras. I also have a special section for Former Soviet Union (FSU) rangefinder cameras.

I'm in the process of converting this site from individual static pages to a content management system that will let you comment on each page. On select pages, scroll down to the very bottom to add a comment to that page. If there's a page that you want converted over to the new system, please let me know!

For up to date news and information about photography and visual anthropology, I host a blog at http://www.photoethnography.com/blog/.

p.s. Yes, as you can see, I use modern equipment in my professional work, but I still heartily believe in the ability of inexpensive classic cameras to do 90% of the work of contemporary cameras at 10% the price. For students and others on a low budget, classic cameras are a much better option than a cheapo contemporary.

p.p.s. I've been noticing some unscrupulous people ripping off my images and text and using them in ebay/MercadoLibre auctions. If you see an auction with an image or text from this site, and it doesn't use my ebay ID 'nasukaren' then it's fraudulent. Please report it immediately to me ( ) and I'll have ebay/MercadoLibre remove the listing and blacklist the seller.
